British Values
British Values at The Linden Centre
At The Linden Centre, we are committed to preparing all our pupils for life in modern Britain. We recognise the diverse, multicultural and multi-faith society we live in and aim to create an environment where every child feels safe, valued and included.
We actively promote the fundamental British values of:
-
Democracy – giving pupils a voice, listening to their views and involving them in decisions that affect their school experience.
-
The Rule of Law – supporting pupils to understand the importance of rules, boundaries and safety, and helping them to make positive choices.
-
Individual Liberty – encouraging pupils to express themselves, develop their independence and understand their rights and responsibilities.
-
Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs – fostering empathy, kindness and understanding so that pupils can build healthy relationships and show respect for all people, regardless of background, culture or belief.
As a trauma- and attachment-aware setting, we recognise that children learn best when they feel secure and connected. We teach British values through positive relationships, restorative approaches and opportunities to practice respect and responsibility in everyday life.
We are clear that discrimination, intimidation, or attempts to radicalise or influence others in harmful ways have no place at The Linden Centre. Instead, we nurture resilience, critical thinking and self-worth so our pupils are empowered to make safe, informed choices.
Our aim is for every child to grow in confidence, compassion and independence – equipped with the values and skills they need to thrive in their communities and in modern Britain.
